Hi Preservation Haddonfield-
My handyman said he would be more than happy to have his name on the website.
He is Al Lautenslager. He can do anything from putting in a new kitchen to
fixing old windows. He does not do plumbing or electrical. He can also
refinish hardwood floors, put in custom moldings, and he is a good painter. In
the Spring, he will work on the outside of our windows, which are in rough
shape. His number is 856-346-2177. His prices are very reasonable.

Jim Robinson is a great “go to” guy for anyone that owns an older home in South Jersey. He has helped me with entire home restorations in Haddonfield at 31 Grove St. and 57 Roberts Ave. He can do small jobs like restoring and re-working stubborn or stuck double hung windows. He also can be a great resource of information for your old home remodel. His cell number is 609-504-9932. Jim is very trust worthy and honest.
We used the electrician Joe Campbell to remove our knob and tube wiring. He was present at the same time as our home inspection and he picked up on many things that were not even related to the electrical system. He has been in the business for a long time and is very knowledgeable about different electrical systems used over the years. He thinks of all of your future electrical needs. He is very reliable and so pleasant that we miss having him in our home! He can be reached at 215-280-1689.
We currently have Welsh Family Painting and Restoration working on our home. Mark, his son Ted, and his workers worked diligently to remove 10 tons of stucco from the exterior of our house — exposing the brick and doing a wonderful restoration. They are meticulous and are always a pleasure to have around. They want the customer to be happy and that is clearly evident. Their work is well worth the money. Their number is 856.753.7500. Stop by the Redman farmhouse to see their artistry.
I will second Dave G.’s recommendation of Jim Robinson. Jim worked with me for over a year on the restoration of 61 Kings Hwy W. (link above). He is meticulous, thoughtful and a plethora of knowledge on old homes. Jim would spend his free time helping me hunt down old parts and replicas on eBay and craigslist. He restored every window and door in the home, some of which I thought were beyond repair. No job was too small or too big. Most importantly, he is honest and trustworthy. You can reach Jim at: (609) 504-9932
We just had Mike Brown (owner) do some painting for us yesterday. He did a great job on our little late 1920s home. He went beyond our expectations. He was called on Friday, came out on Friday night to look the room over and give an estimate and then was here Sat. morning at 8:30AM sharp. Talk about service! He was very neat, efficient and did a wonderful job. We even had some patch up work, before he could paint and he made sure that this was done, before proceeding. Highly recommended…hope that others use him.
Mike Browns phone number is 856-979-7139.
Historic Window Restoration – I have also heard good things about:
1. Eric Danner (Danner Windows) in Haddonfield, 215-779-9246
2. Jon Miller (Miller Construction)609-217-1283
Also on the Preservtation Alliance of Greater Philadelphia website, they have the following names for window restoration experts. These two companies conducted window restoration workshops for them.
1. Chestnut Hill Window Restoration Co.
215-242-6500
2. Architectural Window of Philadelphia
215-545-2956
I haven’t used any of these people. I can’t personally recommend any of them so you would have to make your own decision if you decide to give them a call. I am sure there are other window restorers on the internet, you just have to look. These aren’t the only ones out there.
I called Preservation Alliance of Greater Philadelphia again and they recommended these two craftsmen who are going to be added to their website list when it is updated:
